People who didn’t understand her illness tormented and mocked her, calling her a “monster” and a “zombie,” but her husband had the right reaction to all the naysayers…
The minute we learn to love ourselves with all of our defects, we truly begin to live our lives to the fullest.
Being born with a disability that sets us apart from the rest of the world may be tremendously difficult, and many people face such difficulties. The truth is, being different does not make us less deserving or less attractive, and the moment we understand we are great just the way we are, everything changes for the better.
Karine de Souza, a 33-year-old Brazilian lady, was diagnosed with Xeroderma Pigmentosum at the age of three. This implies she is at great risk of acquiring skin cancer, and her skin develops lesions even after only a few minutes in the sun. As a result, she is required to wear SPF100 sunscreen at all times, including at home.
She has had 130 operations to remove her lesions throughout the years, and regrettably, she has had a portion of her nose and lower lip removed.
“When I expose myself to the sun, nothing happens right away; I don’t feel anything.” However, lesions will form in the future and will need to be removed due to malignancy,” she warns. Unfortunately, her “one in a million” disease is incurable.
Despite her disability, Karine was able to find love in a guy called Edmilson, whom she met on social media and just married. They had a baby daughter together, and he adopted her three children from her prior relationship.
Karine is relieved that she has found her happy ending. “He came and he showed me that I could live a true love story,” she went on to say.
Unfortunately, she is still subjected to derogatory remarks and is accused of being her husband’s’sugar mommy.’
“We have already read many offensive comments calling me a monster, deformed, and a zombie,” Karine told the Daily Mail. “Because of the fact he’s a young man and pretty, that caught people’s attention and they didn’t believe that he was with me because he really liked me,” she said.
The photographer who shot the couple’s engagement photos captioned a sequence of photos:
“They met not by chance, but by a gathering of souls, an encounter of acceptance and character and love emerged when their souls met, and today you are the inspiration to so many people who do not believe in themselves, in life, and especially in love.”
“I THANK YOU EVERY DAY FOR BEING YOU. STOP whining about your situation. Accept LIFE and yourself. Thank you very much for teaching me so much. You guys are incredible. You are so many people’s last hope. Thank you for the enormous embrace and for the amazing day we shared. “I’ll remember your smile for the rest of my life.”
His sincere remarks and gorgeous images of Karine and Edmilson quickly went viral, capturing the attention of many who congratulated the happy pair.
“Be happy, smile, because life happens only once,” she urged.
